Visit to Baosteel factory
Baosteel is an enterprise witch property is of the Chinese’s government. The unique goal of this enterprise is produce steel, being the first producer of steel in China and the second of the world. The construction of Baosteel started on the bank of Yangtze River in north Shanghai.
The history of Chinese’s steel production started with the “Great Leap Forward” with Mao’s government. This plan had as goal to get China in a important developed country, forward a massive plan of industrialization, where the steel’s production played a relevant role; but this plan was a complete disaster and their consequences were terrible for the Chinese population; the victims of this disaster have been estimating over 20 million.
Nowadays, the steel production is a very prosper business for China. In 2012, Baosteel achieved steel output of 43.83 million tons and a total profit of RMB 10.4 billion, ranking the second among the world’s iron and steel enterprises.
The pollution is a huge problem today in China. This pollution is caused mainly for the industry, so the government is now trying to resolve the problem in different ways; one of this ideas is to recyclate the water used during the process, for to use it later in an aquarium of Golden Fishes…we can see this aquarium, but it is hard to believe that fishes can grow and live in this water absolutely polluted…although Baosteel want to become the most competitive resource-conserving and environmental-friendly iron as steel factory in the world.
