«Globalisation is in everything and everywhere, so it is also in culture»
Yesterday Morinosuke Kawaguchi visited EOI to discuss some issues as telecommunications, electronics, intellectual property or the automotive industry.
Morinosuke Kawaguchi is associated director of Arthur D. Little (Japan) Inc. and professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He is a recognized expert in Management of Technology strategy (MOT), Intellectual Property Management (IPM) and Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) in different fields such as telecommunications, electronics and automotive industry.
Kawaguchi explained that “Globalisation is in everything and everywhere, so it is also in culture. And talking about culture, we differenciate between high culture (which is refered to the past and traditions) and subculture (that is about careers) and young people that means future. If a company has young employees, it has future.”
“The problem is how culture is related to the product to make profit of your company, country or whatever… so the main issue is the ability of transfering culture” he said. Dealing with technology is all about the ‘life-cycle’ of technologies: leading with mechanicals, electronics, IT, and now life science. IT is a mature market; so if we want profits, we have to see IT as ‘art’. That explains the success of iPhone: It’s more than IT, it is design, and it is when technology and art merge.
In the interview the expert in subculture Morinosuke Kawaguchi offered a road map to deep into the future of international technology and design.
